Best Practices for Designing a Custom Trade Show Exhibit - Step One: Know Your Objectives

Posted by Tonya Phelps on Dec 12, 2017

As you can see in the video above, creating a custom display for a trade show exhibit requires planning and many considerations. At GLM Displays, we want to make this process as easy as possible for you and your business! Over the next few weeks we will be discussing the steps to take in order to find the perfect custom display for you and your business.

During this blog post, we will be covering Step One: Know Your Objectives.

OBJECTIVES:

To start you will want to identify your goals for the trade show. What do you want to achieve? Do you want to promote a new product or grow your clientele? Answering these questions will give you a better idea of what type of display you want.

ASSESS YOUR NEEDS:

Now that you have your goals, you will need to assess your needs: What is your budget? What size exhibit is right for your trade show booth? Do you need  a display to fit varying booth sizes?

We have displays in a range of sizes: tabletop banners all the way to 20' x 20' Truss Displays. We also have a large selection of  reconfigurable displays that can be made into smaller displays - buy a 10' x 30' display for one show and you can use pieces from that same display for a 10' x 10' display!

DESIRED LOOK/FEEL:

Another point to consider, what is your desired look and feel for your display? Do you want your booth to be conservative, minimalist, high-tech, or elegant? Do you want a display with an open, symmetrical or free form layout?  Do you want a full or semi-custom exhibit? Or do you want a system, which is based on modular building blocks and off-the-shelf elements? You will want to choose a display that best fits with your branding and business.

LOGISTICS:

You will also need to consider your needs regarding the logistics of the trade show: Where will you store the display? Will you need to pay for a storage facility? How will you transport your display? Who will set up the display? Will you need to hire extra people for set up?

After answering these questions, you're now ready to narrow down your display search.  You can search GLM Displays for exhibits based on size or category, making it effortless to find the right display for your show.
